On the road again...
Hello one and all! Just a little over a week
after finishing up our Grande tour of Spain and France, Marcus &
Jim head out to Canada and Boston, Massachusetts to start a tour with
legendary producer/performer, Daniel Lanois! Marcus
& Jim will play bass and guitar respectively and will provide some
delicious harmonies! These shows are not to be missed!

This film is an instant classic, showing Lanois thoughts on music and
working in the studio with U2, Brian Eno, Aaron Neville and Jim &

SUPERIOR New CD GRANDE and Europe Tour 2008!!
MOTHER
SUPERIOR are set to release GRANDE, a
CD and LP vinyl compilation of brand new tracks, rare live TV and radio
performances and previously unreleased versions of some of their best
known
songs. “Grande” may or may not be the band’s official ninth album (it
was
originally intended for a vinyl release only), but there’s no doubt
that the
collection will further the band’s notoriety
and international acclaim as a solid rock ‘n roll force. The New
York Post
has described the band as having “an enormous musical vocabulary.”
The 10
songs featured on “Grande” include two brand-new
sludgy rockers Brain
Child
and Moanin’
that are produced by long-time MS cohort Brian Kehew, who has recently
been
touring and playing keyboards with The Who. Kehew also remixes two MS
songs (Get
That Girl
and Meltdown)
that are recorded and mixed completely on analog tape.
The
legendary DANIEL
LANOIS
(Grammy award winning producer of U2 & Bob Dylan) continues his
ongoing
relationship with Mother Superior and joins the band for three tracks
on
“Grande” playing pedal steel guitar on new versions of two MS classics
Four
Walls and Let It Go, both recorded at his Bella Vista
studio. Daniel is also
featured on lead guitar on a new version of the Mother Superior
favorite Jaded
Little Princess that was recorded live at the Roxy in Los Angeles.
There are new versions of MS favorites like Beg
Borrow Steal
(live on national Spain radio) and Five
Stars
(a fiery live version from a music festival in France) and one of the
CD’s
highlights is a great cover version of The Beatles’ classic Happiness
Is A Warm Gun
(which features the lyric “Mother Superior jump the gun” from where the
band
came up with their moniker). The song was originally recorded for a
Beatles
tribute album that was never released but the band liked their
arrangement so
much they re-recorded it especially for this collection.

Historic
SPARKS concerts in London to feature Jim & Marcus!
Ever
known for their audacious behavior, Sparks
will be performing a jaw dropping 21 night residency in London next
year. The
record-breaking event is in honor of the band’s twenty first album.
“How do we best unveil our new album, Sparks as yet untitled twenty
first?”

as saying, “How about playing in concert every single song off of every
album
that preceded it, all 20 albums on 20 consecutive nights, culminating
in the
premiere of our latest? That’s approximately 250 songs, or for you
musicians,
4 million, 825 thousand, 273 notes. Come celebrate each and every one
of those
notes with us!”
JIM WILSON and MARCUS BLAKE from Mother Superior will be performing
with SPARKS
for these 21 concerts!!
The Islington Academy will host the first 20 nights of
the event culminating
in the unveiling of the new album which will be performed at Shepherd’s
Bush
Empire. Tickets will be priced as follows: £20 per show, three or
more nights
will cost £18 per show, and a golden ticket for every show is
£350 (the latter
comes with a signed poster and exclusive CD).

DANIEL LANOIS Documentary DVD “HERE IS WHAT IS” features Mother Superior
Daniel
Lanois recently
debuted a documentary about his life as a producer and musician
entitled, “Here
Is What Is”. Lanois produced and directed the film, which showcases
his
life over the course of 18 months working in his Toronto studio as he
records
his new solo album, planned for release in March 2008. The movie will
be
premiered in the States at SXSW
in March also.
The behind-the-scenes film also includes many of his frequent
collaborators,
including co-producer Brian Eno and U2 working on a new album in
Morocco,
Emmylou Harris, Billy Bob Thornton and Brian Blade. The documentary is
co-directed by Lanois with photographer Adam Vollick and recording
engineer Adam
Samuels, and also features guest appearances by Garth Hudson, Willie
Nelson,
Aaron Neville and Sinéad O’Connor.
Also in the film is a smoking version of “Duo Glide” filmed at Daniel’s
Toronto studio with Jim Wilson on piano and Marcus Blake on bass.
Lanois has also launched his own label Red Floor Records which will
release the
film’s soundtrack as well as the soundtrack for the Pixies documentary
“loudQUIETloud” which features Jim & Marcus.

SUPERIOR CD "THREE HEADED DOG" set for
May release

HEADED DOG SAMPLER!!!
Mother Superior has signed
to Rosa Records
for European release of their eighth CD which is titled "Three Headed
Dog" and features new tracks produced by Daniel Lanois.
"Three
Headed Dog" features 18 ambitious and eclectic songs ranging from super
catchy energetic metallic punk to evil epics and haunting soul
searching Americana
reminiscent of The Band and Flying Burrito
Brothers.
Mother Superior credits
the good fortune of coming up with too many good songs as the reasoning
behind the decision of the double-length CD (which clocks in at just
over 65 minutes and is Mother Superior's longest disc ever). The band
produced the majority of the album themselves and strived to capture
their power trio live sound and show their versatility at the same
time. The backing tracks for all the songs were recorded live with
minimal overdubs.
Daniel Lanois joins the
band on pedal steel guitar ("Let It Go") and mandolin ("Standing
Still") and co-produces these two songs with his longtime engineer Adam
Samuels. Both songs were recorded completely live including the vocals.
Mother Superior have toured as Lanois' backing band for three years but
this is the first time he's made an appearance on one of their albums.
The first song being released from the CD is "Let It Go" filmed at
Daniel Lanois' home studio and can be seen on Mother Superior's
official website and also their My Space page.
At press time, the U.S.
release of "Three Headed Dog" is still pending although the songs will
be available as digital downloads (iTunes, Rhapsody, etc.) on
June 19th and there
will be import copies available via their website.
"Three Headed
Dog" is a kaleidoscopic journey of sound with something for everybody
and MS once again shows off what the New York Post calls "an enormous
musical vocabulary."

Upcoming MS CD and tour
We are currently in and out of the recording studio finishing up our
next CD which is coming very SOON. 22 songs have been recorded
and are currently being mixed, remixed and shuffled around for an
all-killer, no-filler disc tentatively titled "Three Headed Dog".
A six-week European tour starts at the end of May (dates announced
soon).
New "LET IT GO" video with Daniel Lanois
"Let It Go" is the first track to be released from our upcoming CD that
is produced by Daniel (who also plays pedal steel guitar and sings with
us on this one). The performance is totally LIVE! The video
was directed by Anthony Scarpa and is also available on the MySpace
page and (soon) YouTube.
Two L.A. shows with PEARL featuring Mother Superior and Scott Ian
In March we are recording a bunch of great tracks that we wrote with
our friend Pearl for her new CD. She has an awesome voice and the
band is totally rockin' (we are fortunate to have Scott Ian playing
guitar with us too!). We're playing at the House Of Blues
Foundation Room on Sunset Blvd. on Thursday, February 22nd and it's

Japan! Greetings

We just finished our third show (out of four shows total) for our visit
to Japan
and the people of Japan have been amazing so far! After visiting the
Budokan,
then some temples, the best record shops on the planet and having some
great
food, we were more than ready to rock Japan! And rock we are doing! I
already
can't wait until tomorrow's show. In the meantime, I'll have a saki for
you.

Bruce Gary 1952-2006
Our friend Bruce Gary has passed and we will miss him soooooooo
much...Bruce was an MS fan and supporter literally from the start and
came to many of our early gigs...when we were recording our first album
(10 years ago!!) Bruce came to visit us at the studio and ended up
mixing the whole
"Heavy Soul Experience" CD...he brought with him his expertise and his
huge smile--not to mention the bass guitar Jack Bruce used in Cream and
Marcus got to play it on
"Fool's Prayer"!! To this day, there are fans who tell me that HSE if
their favorite MS CD and I'll never be able to listen to that album
without thinking about Bruce...he was one hell of a drummer, a total
music historian and a beautiful person...Rock on Bruce and THANKS for
your friendship...
If I don't meet you no more in this world
then uh, I'll meet you in the next one and don't be late...don't be
late!

We're back from our gigs
in Europe and fully
immersed in recording the new material! We've been hard at work in the
studio
super excited about what happened when we went to France and Spain!
THANKS to
all the great people that we met along the way and believe it when we
say we
can't wait to get back ASAP!

getting us
there! Over the course of the three day festival, we got to meet old
friends,
hear some great bands and play some rock 'n roll!!

MOTHER
SUPERIOR
The most solid power trio from Los Angeles...
"Almost without time for us to reach the stage, the power trio from Los
Angeles attacked us with the song which gives name to the record of the
year,
"13 Violets". Huge charisma, impeccable musicians and with an
excellent ability to cope with a show. They didn't need so much to get
the
audience eating out of their hands. If we bear in mind that they were
looking
forward to playing in our country, you could imagine what happened on
stage.
Apart from some new songs (which sounded wonderfully), they based their
performance on the songs from the mentioned album and also from the
explosive
"Sin". This is the big thing about of this band; like
Drive-By-Truckers, they do not take 4 years to record a masterly album.
Mother
Superior is a band with an enormous talent, that knows how to absorb
their
influences and catalyse them giving them own identity. This is what
someone can
appreciate in their studio recordings, and that it can be noticed live
listening
to "Jaded Little Princess", "Pretty In The Morning" or
"Fuel The Fire". Songs which expand their greatness live with the
furious solos from a plethoric Jim Wilson, meanwhile Marcus and Matt
cover his
back without any trouble. Taking into account that this was their only
date in
this country, it was obligatory to come here to contemplate a classic
of our
time. Because that is what Mother Superior is. Maybe they will never
get to sell
millions of records, but this band is very, very big and time will end
up
placing them at the level of Mountain, Grand Funk Railroad and Humble
Pie. We
hope that they make a tour soon in our country. The first show in our
lands of
such a fantastic and dear band like Mother Superior".

Rollins's
band. Here is where the festival really began and it began really
powerfully.
The Californian trio show us a succulent setlist where shone songs from
their
last two records. A band which moves happily from Hard Rock to the more
aggressive Blues, with some albums which are pure dynamite. Highlighted
songs
were "13 Violets", "Pretty In The Morning" and "Fuel
the Fire" where the crowd forgot completely that it was siesta-time and
woke up the animal they had inside as if it was a discharge of
adrenaline, and
they were dragged by the frenetic and overwhelming rhythm of this band."

In case
you haven't heard, the Serie Z Festival that was scheduled for August
27th in
Spain has been CANCELLED.
Fortunately, MOTHER SUPERIOR has quickly been added to the AZKENA
FESTIVAL on September 9-12 (full schedule and set times
TBA) with the
NEW YORK DOLLS, The MC5, RYAN ADAMS, URGE OVERKILL, MARK LANEGAN and

Hello everyone!
Just got back from the road with our friend, Daniel
Lanois! What a great experience! Before we get to that,
Mother
Superior is playing at 14
Below this Saturday August 7th at 8:30 pm! Also on the
bill is
Banyon featuring Stephen
Perkins of Jane's Addiction and Mike Watt! We promise to kick
some
ass!! 14 Below is located at 1348 14th Street in Santa Monica,
CA!

Anyway, we started the Daniel Lanois tour in Pioneertown, CA (a place
just
outside of Joshua Tree). Eric Burdon from the legendary band, the
Animals,
joined us onstage and sang "House Of The Rising Sun" with us.

It was magic! From there, we traveled across the States with the
tour
culminating with three shows with the Dave Matthews band in
Florida. Dave
and company couldn't be nicer! Dave introduced us every night and
sang
"The Maker, " one of Daniel's songs with us. The audience loved
it! Thanks to Jennifer, Adam and Brian for making this a tour to
remember!
As a souvenir of the tour, a specially pressed cd of Daniel's music was
made and
sold at the venues and his website. The cd is called "Rockets,"
a collection of live and alternate versions of Daniel's songs and
features a
great version of "The Maker" with yours truly, Mother
Superior!

MOTHER SUPERIOR in PARIS!!
Elo kiddies, it's Jim here. We're just back from a triumphant
show in
Paris at L'Olympia
where we rocked 'em with a Mother Superior set they'll never
forget! Lots
of thanks to Christophe from Crossroads Magazine (our "13 Violets" CD
is
currently #2 on the rock chart just behind Aerosmith's "Honkin' On
Bobo"!!) and
also Michel from our label Fargo
Records who showed us great hospitality. Hello to all the new
fans and
listeners and thank you all so much for the support!
While in Paris we got some great new photos (thanks to Emmy) which
we'll be
sharing with you shortly, as well as some live shots from the
concert. I
also did an interview for a major French music magazine called "Rock
& Folk"
that will soon be published. There was a great "meet and greet"
at the
Hard Rock Cafe© where we got to hang out with fans and sign
autographs.
That night at the concert, we met and played with lots of great artists
(hello
to Ross The Boss, Jason Ringenberg, Carmine Appice who said we have
lots of
soul, Gary Louris, Kevin Salem, Eric Ambel and Neal Casal).
Marcus had the
great opportunity to get to play bass with the legendary Arthur Brown
and Phil
May from the Pretty Things! Hello to Mark St. John, who still
can't get
over the fact that I really do like the Bay City Rollers.
A few last thanks go to Guillaume and Melanie and also to Hugues.
And how
can we forget our new friend Ron Donovan!! Ron, we are looking
forward to
doing lots of work with you in the future.
Our set was fast and furious and loud (duh!) and we hope to have a
recording of
the show available to everyone soon. More Mother Superior shows
in Europe
are coming up at the end of August/beginning of September. A
shout-out
goes to Jean-Luc for believing in us and also for taking us to the
Eiffel Tower
and cool vinyl stores.
JIM onstage with SPARKS IN LONDON
Just before the show in Paris, I had the great fortune to play with SPARKS
at the Meltdown
Festival in London. It was a rare occasion for Sparks to look
back and
perform their 1974 classic "Kimono My House" in its entirety and I got
to rock
the blistering power chords and solos! Thanks to Ron and Russell
Mael, my
all-time heroes and now also my dear friends, for my chance to have a
dream come
true. The next time you're at the CD store looking for some new
sounds,
pick up "Kimono My House" and also the latest Sparks CD, "Lil'
Beethoven" and
get ready to have your mind blown. Thanks also to Sparks drummer
Tammy
Glover (who has now eliminated the words Dinky Diamond from the English
language), Dean Menta (formerly of Faith No More who has been playing
guitar
with Sparks for the past couple of years and who graciously let me
share the
guitar duties with him) and my new friend Steve McDonald from Redd
Kross who played the bass guitar flawlessly and made us all
laugh. It
was a great pleasure to work with Sparks and I hope that it will not be
the last
time.
Also, I got the chance to interview Ron and Russell for an upcoming
issue of
Crossroads Magazine in France and we will hopefully get that on the
website
after it is published. Thanks again to Christophe for the idea
and for
making it all happen.

Video UPDATE!!
We are busy recording our 7th (!!!!) CD and it will be our heaviest and
most
rocking album ever. We've been coming up with some awesome riffs
and
barn-burning rockers. Song titles and more info to come

in the next couple of weeks we'll be filming a new video for "Head
Hanging Low"
from "13 Violets" that will once again be directed by Anthony Scarpa
who did our
"Jaded Little Princess" video as well as the "13 Violets" cover
photos.

Additionally, Mother Superior have recorded a cool instrumental CD that
we're
calling "ADLIBIDUB" and it's full of trippy riffs and improvisations
that we
captured on tape one afternoon at Cole Studios in Hollywood. It
will be a

We told you before about our upcoming project with Pearl Aday (daughter
of Meat
Loaf and Motley Crue backup vocalist). The collaboration is now
going to
be called "MOTHER PEARL" and the CD title is "Broken Thorny
Crown."
Together we have written and recorded 11 tracks with Pearl and they are
now
being mixed by Bruce Robb at Cherokee Studios here in L.A. Scott
from
Anthrax has been helping produce the tracks and believe me, Pearl sings
her ass
off on these songs. The three of us crank it up on the backing
tracks as
per usual. Highlights include "Worth Defending," "Not Right Now,"
and a
blistering new version of the Mother Superior classic, "Whore."
No release
